A sweater for your chair

A sweater for your chair

One of my favourite display windows in Berlin is featuring a Fritz Hansen Grand Prix chair (designed by Arne Jacobsen) wearing a sweater vest. It’s January and we’re all a little cold, so why not cosy up a chair?

It even has a pocket! Maybe for keeping an extra napkin in it?

The display window belongs to Minimum — a designer furniture shop on Torstrasse in Berlin’s Mitte district. And it got me thinking of my own chairs, and how they could use some cosying up in the winter months too. We do, after all, spend a lot of time sitting in them.

It all led me to discovering the beautiful work of Hans Sapperlot. An Austrian-based artist and designer, Sapperlot took shapes and wove them together to create coverings for lamps, floors and, yes, chairs in his series called SMOK.

It also took me here: The ultimate chair sweater — in that it’s a chair that you can also wear as a sweater as long as you are sitting in it. Aga Brzostek designed the chair as the perfect winter accessory.
